According to reports, 79-year-old J Narasimhaiah, Dr. Priyadarshini’s father-in-law, filed a complaint with the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police. He claimed that his daughter-in-law assaulted him and his wife at their home in RHCS Layout. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case.
A video of the incident, widely shared on social media, shows Dr. Priyadarshini shouting at her in-laws, pulling her mother-in-law’s mangalsutra, while another woman is seen kicking Narasimhaiah. Children can be heard crying in the background. The incident seems to be linked to ongoing problems between Dr. Priyadarshini and her husband, Naveen Kumar. The couple, who married in 2007 and have children, are currently getting a divorce. Naveen is living with his parents, while Dr. Priyadarshini stays separately with their children.
On the night of the incident, Dr. Priyadarshini allegedly entered her in-laws’ home with another woman, started abusing them verbally, and then turned violent. Narasimhaiah, who has heart problems, tried to stop the fight but was reportedly attacked. His wife, who is also unwell, was also involved in the scuffle.
Following the complaint, the police have registered a case against Dr. Priyadarshini under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including causing hurt, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult. Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Vikash Kumar Vikash confirmed that Dr. Priyadarshini has been summoned for questioning, and further investigations are ongoing.
