After Seafood Plaza Becomes Popular, BMC Explores Ferry Ride Between Mahim & Worli
With its first Seafood Plaza becoming more and more popular, the BMC is now considering starting a boat service from Mahim to Worli. According to the municipal official, it will be a comprehensive package that allows tourists to see the forts of Worli and Mahim, go on sea rides, and eat delicious seafood.
On November 2, 2023, the city’s first Seafood Plaza opened on Mahim Koliwada’s waterfront. The Seafood Plaza has seen 30,000 visitors in just three months. According to the civic official, the idea has not only increased tourism in the area but also created a road to financial stability for the Mahim Koliwada Women’s Self-Help group. In the same vein, Koli food will soon be available in another seafood plaza in Worli Koliwada.
Concurrently, the increasing acceptance of this idea has prompted the local government to create a tourist destination within the island city. Consequently, in compliance with the directives of Mumbai’s guardian minister Deepak Kesarkar, city officials are currently in the process of initiating a ferry service connecting the seafronts of Mahim, Dadar, and Worli. The idea is still in its early stages, and the city officials have not yet decided on the ferry service, the number of journeys, or other amenities that will be included.
Assistant municipal commissioner for G North ward Ajitkumar Ambi stated, “We anticipate a rise in visitors to Mahim beach and the Fort after the renovation and beauty of Mahim fort is finished. A ferry ride will be scheduled on this route in light of the anticipated increase in tourists.” The BMC has already started renovating the historic forts at Mahim and Worli. Visitors will be able to see these forts thanks to the boat ride.
