A Central Railway Ticket Examiner, Vishal Navle, detected a fake UTS-generated season ticket during a routine check on the 10:02 Kalyan–Dadar AC local on 26 November 2025.

Navle stopped a woman passenger, Gudiya Sharma, who showed a UTS season ticket (No. X06YDZG055) for travel from Ambarnath to Dadar, valid till 11 December 2025. On examining the ticket closely, he found it suspicious and sent it for verification. It was confirmed that the ticket was fake, created using details from an older, expired ticket.

The woman was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Kalyan, for further action.

Investigations later revealed that the fraudulent ticket had been created by her husband, Omkar Sharma, and given to her for travel. An FIR has been registered against both under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 Sections 318/4, 336/2, 336/3, 340, and 3/5, relating to cheating and fraudulent ticketing.

Railway officials said that Vishal Navle’s alertness helped expose a possible fake ticketing racket, and his dedication sets a positive example for others.

Central Railway has urged passengers to travel only with valid tickets purchased from authorised sources such as booking counters, ATVMs, or the official UTS mobile app.
Passengers are also warned that using fake or fraudulently generated tickets is a serious offence, punishable under BNS with imprisonment of up to 7 years, a fine, or both.
