Apoorva Mukhija Shares Online Abuse Amid Ongoing Probe into YouTube Show ‘India’s Got Latent’
Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija has publicly revealed the alarming extent of online abuse she’s been facing, including threats of rape, acid attacks, and death. She shared screenshots of these messages on Instagram, noting in her caption, “and that’s not even 1%,” after temporarily deactivating her account.
The backlash stems from the controversy surrounding the YouTube talk show India’s Got Latent, where discussions involving podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia sparked public outrage. Allahbadia had made a controversial comment about parents and sex, for which he later apologized, acknowledging its inappropriateness and pledging to exercise more responsibility due to his influence over young viewers.
In February, Mukhija recorded her statement with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in relation to the matter. Meanwhile, comedian Samay Raina, the show’s host, appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch on April 6 as part of the ongoing investigation into allegations of promoting obscenity.
The controversy escalated on February 10, when Guwahati Police filed an FIR against several content creators—Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others—accusing them of promoting obscene and sexually explicit content via the YouTube show.
The FIR was registered as Cyber PS case no. 03/2025 under multiple provisions: Sections 79, 95, 294, and 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS); Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000; Sections 4 and 7 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952; and Sections 4 and 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
All named individuals, including Mukhija and Allahbadia, have appeared before authorities to record their statements as the investigation continues.
