Mumbai Airport Bust: Rs 13.56 Crore in Smuggled Gold Seized, 11 Arrested
The gold was found concealed by passengers in the rectum, undergarments, on the body and also in a cardboard sheet.

The Customs Department seized 22.14 kg of gold valued at Rs 13.56 crore, that was illegally brought by some passengers at the Mumbai International Airport, officials said on Monday.
During the action taken at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport between Friday and Sunday, 11 passengers were arrested in 20 cases of gold smuggling, it has been said.
According to an official, the gold was found concealed by passengers in the rectum, undergarments, on the body and also in a cardboard sheet. In one case, gold jewellery was hidden under the burqa worn by a passenger and in another case, the gold bars were concealed in the undergarments, an official said.
Gold was also smuggled as a bangle and a buckle worn as a belt by the passengers. Simultaneously, gold dust in the form of wax was hidden by a passenger in the rectum, he said.
