Stampede at Pushpa-2 Premiere Claims Woman’s Life, Leaves Son Critical in Hyderabad
A tragic stampede at the premiere of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa-2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her son, Sritej, critically injured. The incident happened late Wednesday night as a massive crowd gathered to see the actor.
Revathi’s husband, Mogadampalli Bhaskar, shared their story. “Our son, Tej, is a big fan of Allu Arjun. Everyone calls him ‘Pushpa.’ We came to the event because of him,” he said. Bhaskar had brought his wife and two children, Sritej and Sanvi, to the event.
Chaos broke out when the crowd surged as Allu Arjun arrived. Bhaskar, holding his daughter Sanvi, was separated from Revathi and Sritej. During the stampede, Revathi was fatally injured while trying to protect her son, who collapsed from suffocation.
Police performed CPR on Sritej and rushed him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. “The crowd was under control at first, but everything went wrong when the actor showed up,” Bhaskar explained, calling for action against the theatre management.
Revathi’s death has left Bhaskar, a liver transplant recipient still recovering from surgery, heartbroken. “She donated her liver to save me, and now she’s gone,” he said.
Hyderabad Police have filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management, including charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and causing hurt. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
The tragedy has led to demands for stricter crowd control at major events to prevent similar incidents in the future.
