Upcoming Bank Holidays: Plan Your Banking Transactions in Advance
As the financial year comes to an end, banks across India are experiencing a surge in activity. Many people prefer banking on Saturdays to avoid weekday crowds, but banks will be closed for the next two days due to upcoming holidays.
- Sunday, March 30 – Regular weekly holiday
- Monday, March 31 – Banks will be closed in most states for Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramzan Eid) / Khutub-e-Ramadan, except in Shimla and Aizawl, where they will remain open.
Banking Schedule in India
Banks follow a set schedule: Open on 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.
Closed on 2nd and 4th Saturdays and every Sunday.
Bank Holidays in March 2025
- March 27 (Thursday) – Shab-e-Qadr (Banks closed in Jammu & Srinagar)
- March 28 (Friday) – Juma-tul-Vida (Banks closed in Jammu & Srinagar)
- March 31 (Monday) – Eid-ul-Fitr (Banks closed in most states, except Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram)
Although March 31 is a public holiday in many states, the RBI has instructed all banks handling government transactions to stay open on this day. Customers are advised to plan their banking needs accordingly.
