A harassment incident near Mithibai College in Vile Parle has drawn attention to public safety concerns, while also highlighting the courage of a young student who confronted the accused.
The incident took place on February 16 between 5:30 pm and 6 pm, when a 24-year-old student was walking towards a snack shop with two friends near the campus in Vile Parle.
According to reports, a man allegedly started following them and passed inappropriate comments, making the group uncomfortable. Instead of ignoring him, the student confronted the man, caught hold of him, and dragged him inside the college premises while shouting for help.
Other students soon gathered, stopped the accused from leaving and held him there until the police arrived. Some bystanders reportedly hit the man before officers intervened.

Police from Juhu Police Station reached the campus shortly after, detained the accused and registered an FIR based on the studentโs complaint. The man, said to be from Nehru Nagar in Vile Parle West, has been arrested.
The incident has been widely praised for the studentโs bravery and has once again raised concerns about safety in public areas around colleges. Authorities have advised students to immediately inform college officials, friends or family if such situations arise.
