Mumbai Local Trains Disrupted This Sunday; 300 Services Cancelled Due to Mega Block
Maintenance work on Central, Trans-Harbour and Western lines to impact suburban travel; commuters advised to plan ahead
Mumbai’s suburban train services will face major disruptions this Sunday as railway authorities carry out extensive maintenance and infrastructure work across multiple routes. Around 300 local train services are set to be cancelled, affecting lakhs of daily commuters.
On the Central Railway’s main line, slow services between Matunga and Mulund will remain affected from 11:05 AM to 3:55 PM. During this time, trains leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10:14 AM and 3:32 PM will run on fast tracks, skipping stations such as Vidyavihar, Kanjur Marg, and Nahur.
The Trans-Harbour line will see a complete shutdown between Thane and Vashi/Nerul from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM, with no train services operating in either direction during the block period.
Meanwhile, on the Western Railway, a major 19-hour block will be in place between Kandivli and Borivali from Saturday 10:30 PM to Sunday 7:30 PM for bridge work. Around 45 trains on Saturday and 254 on Sunday will be cancelled. Additionally, platforms 1 and 2 at Borivali station will remain non-operational during this period.
The block will allow railway authorities to carry out key infrastructure upgrades, including work on the Harbour Line extension towards Borivali, bridge strengthening, and girder installation at Kandivali station.
Officials say these developments aim to improve safety, increase capacity, and enhance overall service efficiency. Passengers are advised to check updated train schedules and consider alternate travel options to avoid inconvenience.
