3-hour block on April 23 and 24 for bridge work; commuters advised to plan travel in advance

Commuters travelling on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway should prepare for temporary disruptions as maintenance work near Kusgaon will lead to traffic closures and diversions over two days.

Heavy congestion was already reported on the Mumbai-to-Pune stretch, with around 30 minutes of traffic jam observed before Lonavala, causing inconvenience to travellers. Many commuters are also awaiting the opening of the much-anticipated Missing Link project, which is expected to ease travel time on this busy route.

According to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), vehicular traffic will be suspended for three hours on both days to carry out bridge maintenance work, including shuttering removal and painting, at the Dongargaon–Kusgaon stretch (km 58/500).

Traffic Plan:

  • April 23 (Mumbai-bound): Traffic towards Mumbai will remain closed from 12 pm to 3 pm. Vehicles will be diverted via Kiwale–Dehu Road–Talegaon route along NH-48, rejoining the expressway near Kusgaon toll plaza.
  • April 24 (Pune-bound): Traffic towards Pune will be closed from 12 pm to 3 pm. Vehicles will be rerouted from Kusgaon toll plaza through Dehu Road–Kiwale via NH-48.

Advisory:
Authorities have urged motorists to avoid travelling during peak closure hours and allow extra time for their journey. The expressway is one of the busiest routes in Maharashtra, and even short disruptions can lead to heavy congestion on alternate roads.
