Vodafone Idea, a popular telecom service provider, has offered eSIM (Embedded Subscriber Identity Module) services for prepaid subscribers in Mumbai and Goa. This comes amidst the widespread availability of eSIM services from Jio and Airtel. It can provide Vi customers with greater flexibility and convenience when using a SIM card on a compatible smartphone or wearable. This can be done without removing the primary SIM card from a supported handset.

According to Vi, eSIM is a tool for speedier connectivity and easy adoption of new technologies. Postpaid and prepaid consumers can now use their handsets’ eSIM feature to access services. The business also explained how consumers can migrate to a Vi eSIM. Here’s how you switch to an eSIM:

Vi eSIM Activation: A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Existing users can send an SMS to 199 with the text: “eSIM [your registered email id]” (make sure your accurate email ID is updated in Vi records).
Step 2: Within 15 minutes after receiving the confirmation SMS, reply with “ESIMY” to proceed.
Step 3: This will be followed by a call requesting consent.
Step 4: Check your email inbox for the QR code to activate your eSIM.
Step 5: From the Settings app, navigate to the “Mobile Data” and “Add data” plans and scan the code.

Step 6: You may want to rename the secondary SIM and select the default line of devices.

The eSIM will activate within 30 minutes. New customers can obtain a new connection by visiting the Vi shop and providing ID verification. This eSIM is compatible with eSIM-compliant iPhones, including the iPhone XR and upwards.
Samsung’s supported smartphones include the Galaxy Z Flip, Z Fold, Note 20 Ultra, Note 20, and Galaxy S21 (and after). Apart from these, supporting devices include the eSIM-ready Motorola Razr, Moto Edge 40, Pixel 3, and later, Vivo X90 Pro, Nokia G60, and Nokia X30.
