Passengers travelling to Mumbai for work, studies or airport transfers will now have to spend more as cab operators hike fares due to rising fuel costs.

Travelling from Pune to Mumbai has become more expensive, with cab operators increasing fares by ₹300 to ₹400 per trip. The revised rates came into effect in the last week of May and are linked to the continuous rise in fuel prices across Maharashtra.

The fare hike is expected to impact thousands of passengers who travel regularly to Mumbai for office work, business meetings, education and airport transfers. Travellers heading to Mumbai’s international airport and the new Navi Mumbai airport are likely to feel the biggest pinch.

Cab operators say the increase was unavoidable as fuel prices, vehicle maintenance and other operating expenses have risen significantly in recent months. With CNG, diesel and petrol prices remaining high, maintaining earlier fare levels had become difficult.

While the increase may seem small for occasional travellers, daily commuters say it will add considerably to their monthly travel budget. As a result, many passengers are now considering trains and buses as more affordable alternatives.

The Pune-Mumbai route is one of Maharashtra’s busiest travel corridors, connecting two major cities and serving thousands of commuters every day.
