Mumbai has always been called the “city of dreams”. But today, it’s also becoming the city of powerful women. According to the 2025 Candere Hurun India Women Leaders List, Mumbai is home to 38 out of 97 top women leaders in the country. These women are doing great things in business, art, social work, startups, and more.

From business bosses to young startup stars, from artists to Instagram content creators, Mumbai’s women are leading the way. They are showing the world that power doesn’t look just one way. It can be kind, bold, creative, or caring. And women are now shaping what power means in their own way.

Some big names include Shanti Ekambaram, Deputy MD of Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Adwaita Nayar, the co-founder of beauty brand Nykaa. One of the youngest on the list is 28-year-old Devanshi Kejriwal, who helped build a learning game company called Skillmatics. Another big name is Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc, one of India’s top companies.

Mumbai is also home to legacy businesswomen like Nisaba Godrej and Tanya Dubash. At the same time, it celebrates new-age voices like fashion influencer Masoom Minawala and Gen Z content creator Mrunal Panchal.

Even in Bollywood, Mumbai women are turning fame into business power. Actress Shraddha Kapoor, with over 94 million Instagram followers, is the top celebrity investor on the list. Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Katrina Kaif, who live and work in Mumbai, are also turning their star power into strong brands.

But it’s not just about money. Many of these women are also changing lives. Leaders like Manju D. Gupta, Leena Gandhi Tewari, and Falguni Nayar are helping in areas like education, health, and support for women. They are using their success to give back to society.

From the boardroom to social media and from startups to charity, Mumbai women are leading in every space. And they’re proving that being a leader isn’t just about titles. It’s about using your voice, your ideas, and your heart to make a difference.
